The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities
Turn right at the Tahrir Square to stop finally at the Egyptian Museum, unmissable monumental spot in Cairo. Since it was built in 1902, the museum houses everyday new magnificent arts of ancient times till it reaches now 160.000 rare items on display and there is still another 160.000 items in stores. Designed on the neoclassical style, it consists of two floors. While the ground floor takes you on a chronological tour through the collections, the objects on the upper floor are grouped according to tomb or category. Among the exhibits here you will stop at the treasures of Tutankhamun. Try to drag yourself away from the shining golden collection and remember your time is limit.
Egyptian lunch
Experience the Egyptian food which is, on our guests’ opinion, a mixture of each empire who ruled Egypt in the ancient ages. Still have their touches, tell us which country you think of when you taste our traditional food and do not forget to remember our food in other countries you step out after that.
The Three Pyramids of Giza & the Sphinx
The hot spot of Cairo and Egypt ever. So white, so polished and so shining limestone that you can see it from the moon!! We mean the Great Pyramid of course. However, the few thousand years has influenced to the white that becomes not too shiny like 5000 years ago. The question is how a massive building like the Great Pyramid which consisted of 2.300.000 stone stands still for 5000 years? Countless studies made on it and concluded that the cornerstone foundations of the Pyramid have ball and socket construction capable of dealing with heat expansion and earthquakes. Nothing in the pharaoh civilization is remained till now by coincidence our dear guest. On the right side a huge statue of pharaoh’s head and lion’s body will catch your eyes. It is the sphinx; another mystery. Not much information known about it except it was built with the second Pyramid by the king Chephren, Khufu’s son. Here are the oldest of Seven Wonders of the Old World. Take your time!
Because your maximum comfort is what we concern first. We exclude a unique offer of 15 min of freely camel riding in the Pyramid valley because you may get tired of walking through the giant Pyramids in the sunny Cairo. Slowly walking, better watching and top relaxing.
Accommodation
From the Pyramids to hotel we are heading as we are all exhausted now and it gets dark. You will descend in front of 5* hotel. Provided with deluxe rooms, TVs, wide swimming pool and big garden you will find things to do if you want to be awake. Better to sleep because we have 3 hours travelling in the early morning. Dinner and breakfast included.
Day 2: Alexandria city Tour
The wonders of the Old World are seven; two of them are in Cairo and Alexandria. And the wonders of the Medieval World are seven too; one of them is in Alex. If the pharaohs’ and Islamic civilization dominated Cairo, Alexandria is the heritage of Alexander the Great and what the Greeks are proud of. It was the capital of Egypt during the Greeks era and continued during the Roman Empire’s.
From Hotel to Alex
Hurry up! Pack your bags and depart the hotel. Say good bye to Cairo when you ascend your bus because our first stop will be Alex. No, not to your ship but to the catacombs of Kom EL Shuqafa.
Catacombs of Kom El Shuqafa
Catacombs of Kom El Shuqafa, meaning the hill of treasures in the Arabic language, was unearthed by coincidence in the beginning of the 20th century. Here you are standing at one of the seven medieval wonders of the World. The historical archaeological site have six-pillared central shaft which opens off the vestibule. As Roman heritage, Kom El Shuqafa is the largest and most important burial site. So lucky that the 2nd level of the tomb is valid because for long time it had been closed for visitors as it was submerged in underground water. After decreasing the level of the subsoil water in 1995, the 2nd level was opened to visitors, but the lowest level is still submerged. Compare the tombs of the Roman Empire with the Pyramids of the Pharaohs you visited the day before. Remember, both of them are wonders!
Pompey’s Pillar
To the east of Catacombs you will stop at the Pompey’s Pillar, another memorial building from Roman Empire. Actually it is our offer for this day. Stand beside the largest memorial column in Egypt at take a lot of photos. Let’s go!
“Alexandrian” Lunch
Fish of course. You will eat fish cooked on the Alexandrian way; fried or grilled with basmati rice and green or tomato salad. Try a new menu of seafood that is unknown to any part in the country.
The citadel of Quitbay
Come on! To the peninsula at the mouth of the Eastern harbor; at the exact site of the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria, the second oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was built by Sultan Al Ashraf Quitbay at one of the most defensive strongholds with the same stones of the Lighthouse they thought. Look at the sea from the countless openings in the walls and imagine a knight aims an arrow from that small opening. Impossible to be seen
